Fish Farming

Overview

Fish Farming training is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills required for successful freshwater fish production. The course covers pond selection and preparation, fish species selection, quality seed stocking, feeding, water quality management, pond fertilization, fish health and disease prevention, growth monitoring, harvesting, post-harvest handling and basic fish farm economics. Participants will also learn how to plan and manage a small-scale or commercial fish farming enterprise.

Practical Exposure

Participants will receive hands-on exposure to pond preparation, water quality observation, fish seed selection, stocking methods, feed management, pond fertilization, fish health monitoring, growth assessment, netting, harvesting, basic record keeping and day-to-day fish farm management under trainer guidance.

Career & Self-Employment Possibilities

After completing the Fish Farming training, participants can start their own fish farming unit, manage leased or family ponds, work with fish farms, hatcheries, cooperatives, FPOs, NGOs and fisheries-related organizations, supply fish seed or feed, engage in fish marketing, or develop an integrated aquaculture enterprise. With proper pond management, quality seed, feeding and market linkage, fish farming can provide a sustainable source of income and self-employment.

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the prescribed training and practical sessions will be awarded a Fish Farming Training Certificate as per the institute's training guidelines and certification policy.
